The school was opened in 1972 as Park Gate Junior School. In 1995 the school changed status from a junior school to a primary school, due to the growth in pupil numbers in the area. The school now has pupils aged 4–11 years of age. The school is able to accommodate 420 children in total, organised in 7 year groups of 2 classes.

School Organisation
The school is organised into 3 key stages; Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The Early Years Foundation Stage begins when your child is at nursery or pre-school and the curriculum continues throughout Year R. Further information regarding Early Years can be found through our curriculum link. Key Stage 1 includes Year 1 and Year 2 with children then moving to Key Stage 2 in Year 3 until they reach the end of Year 6. Further information regarding the curriculum taught at Park Gate can be found through our curriculum link.
School Results
The End of Key Stage 2 results for 2018-2019 can be accessed via the following link Key Stage 2 Results 2018-2019 .
Clubs
We offer a range of clubs and activities in school. These may be run by a member of staff, a volunteer or sometimes a commerical company. Information is given to children each term about the clubs that will be available. Permission from parents must be received before a child can take part in an extra-curriculuar club. If the club is run by an outside agency there will be a charge made. All clubs offered by school staff are free.
Music Tuition
The school organises specialist instrumental tuition through Hampshire Music Service, for children in Key Stage 2. Parents pay for these lessons on a termly basis. They are heavily subsidised by the school.
The current range of instruments includes:Woodwind – flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, Brass – trumpet, cornet, trombone, French horn, euphonium, Strings – violin, viola, cello, double bass, Guitar and Piano.
Trips and Residential Visits
Throughout the year children have the opportunity to take part in a range of visits that enhance the curriculum. These change each year but may include: local walks, museum or gallery visits, trips to historical sites such as Butser Farm, fieldwork locations and local animal parks such as Marwell Zoo and Finkley Down Farm.
We also have many visitors to school. Recently these have included authors such as Andy Stanton and Frank Cottrell, members of the local emergency services – along with their specialised vehicles, Young Shakespeare Threatre Company, members of local churches who support our RE curriculum and assemblies and our local Hearing Dog in training - Gwen!
In Years 5 and 6 the children have the opportunity to take part in our residential visits. The children in Year 5 will visit Stubbington Study Centre. In Year 6 children have the opportunity to spend a week at a PGL centre. This is an outward bounds centre where the children take part in a range of activities that might include quad biking, dragon boating and kayaking, abseiling, fencing, night hikes and many more.
Complaints Procedure
If a parent has a concern that they wish to raise this would usually be addressed to the class teacher in the first instance. If the concern is of a serious nature or the matter is not resolved, the headteacher should be contacted.
If there is no resolution to a complaint at this point, parents are advised to contact the Chair of Governors.
For further information about the complaints procedure please contact the school office or our full complaints procedure can be found on the website.
The School Office
The school office staff team hope to be able to help parents with any queries and concerns. The office opens each day at 8.20am and is staffed throughout the school day.
It would be extremely helpful to the office staff if any monies coming into school could be sent in on Mondays. This makes collation and banking of any funds more manageable. All cheques coming into the office should be made payable to ‘Hampshire County Council’.
If you would like to talk to a member of the teaching staff, please ensure you enquire at the school office first and make a member of the office staff aware that you are in the school building.
If you would like to leave a message for a member of staff or for your child, concerning arrangements for collection at the end of the day for example, the office staff will be more than happy to help with this.
There are times when the school office is very busy and we ask parents to be patient at these times.
If you would like to contact the school office please telephone 01489 575444 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
